2018

What a Year

By Frank Baldesarra

Co-Founder & CEO

It was a defining year for engineering.com. Incredible progress happened and we had our best year ever, thanks to you! As the leading voice informing and inspiring engineering minds around the World, our mission continues to connect and mobilize the best engineering minds to help solve many of our World’s ongoing problems. As we get ready for an impactful 2019, let's take a look back and reflect on how far we’ve come.

1.

We produced great stories

The engineering and technology world is advancing fast, and we covered many of those important stories. Some stories were trends and some were requested by our customers, and thanks to our very talented and passionate team, we produced nearly 200 sponsored stories and over 2000 informing and inspiring stories!

Our audience is growing

Overall visitor traffic is up 18%. Key sectors saw significant growth with design software up 59%, advanced manufacturing up 68% growth, and our forums up 16%.

3.

Our customers are amazing

We are grateful for the marketers who drive us forward. Digital marketing is changing before our eyes, and our customers have worked hand-in-hand with us to push the envelope on new ways to connect their brand stories with technical users. Their keen curiosity, their reliance on data, and their willingness to try new things, all made this past year fascinating.

4.

We invested in our community

We began testing a new experience for our engineering community using our ProjectBoard platform as the foundation. To explore this new way to discover and participate in engineering content, download the engineering.com app for mobile & tablet devices.

Within the new experience, our community interacts through three types of Boards:

StoryBoards: Create articles & videos about topics that interest you, or browse 1000’s that already exist.

DiscussionBoards: Q&A about things you're curious about.

ProjectBoards: Take action on ideas you care about.

Each Board is equipped with the ability to comment, add images, create whiteboards and more, so you have the tools to engage effectively!

We introduced "Boards"

2019

Our vision for 2019 is clear and strong. It's a year where we as content creators and our community need to come together to tell better stories, discuss, share and solve problems to make the World better.

A great big thanks to all again as we move forward into what will be an exciting future.
